PURPOSE
Altar Servers are present before, during and after each Mass to assist the priest in the celebration of the Eucharist. It is an honor and a privilege to become an Altar Server. It is our way of giving thanks to the Lord and serving Him.
“In the liturgy, you are much more than simple ‘helpers of the parish priest.’ Above all, you are servers of Jesus Christ, of the eternal High Priest. Thus, you, altar servers, are called in particular to be young friends of Jesus. Be determined to go deeper and to cultivate this friendship with him. You will discover that in Jesus you have found a true friend for life.”
— Pope John Paul II, August 1, 2001
WHO CAN SERVE
All boys and girls in our parish, third grade and older who have received their first Holy Communion, are eligible for this ministry.
DUTIES
We assist the celebrant at the chair and the altar, carrying the processional cross, holding the books, carrying the incense, etc. Our service is important and allows the liturgy to be conducted with grace and reverence. Altar Serving is both a privilege and help to our parish. Most of all, we do this so that in performing our duties we may reflect on the true presence of Christ at Mass and to develop a sense of participation in our parish life.
We appreciate our Altar Servers and their parents for their commitment.

The Audio/Visual Ministry provides visual guides for parishioners and audio support for the choir. In today’s day and age, digital media is becoming more and more prominent, and our parish is leading the way for Catholic churches in East Texas with its Audio/Visual Ministry. At St. Andrew we are blessed to have a wonderful opportunity to enrich the Liturgy through digital means which involves displaying the lyrics for weekly hymns, weekly readings, and prayers. It also involves monitoring the sound quality throughout the Mass. We do services for Sunday Masses, Holy Days of Obligation, weddings, and funerals.
Duties:
At a typical service, we arrive at least 10 minutes early to set up for the Mass. Setting up includes turning on the sound system and setting up the computer for Mass. At the Saturday evening Mass at five p.m., additional setup may be required. During Mass, we follow along with the Liturgy and display songs and readings while making sure the sound quality is sufficient. After Mass, we turn off the sound system and leave it ready for the next Mass. The Sunday evening Mass at 6 p.m. has additional duties and will be required to lock up the equipment.
On special occasions, such as Holy Days of obligation, weddings, and funerals, additional duties may be needed including playing CDs or iPod music and normally takes place outside of the Sunday Mass schedule.
For all services the readings and hymns will be preloaded into the computer and ready to go for your designated Mass.
Who Can Serve:
Anyone high school age and older can serve in the A/V Ministry though computer skills are preferred. While not required, computer skills are extremely helpful when learning the set-up and troubleshooting common problems. If under the age of 16, you should have an adult with you when working the sound booth.

PURPOSE
The Liturgy Committee helps prepare our community to carry out the Church’s plan of worship. The liturgy, the official prayer of the Church, is facilitated by the participation of people in the wondrous act of Eucharist.
DUTIES

Our Liturgical Ministries include Altar Servers, Audio/Visual, Extra-Ordinary Ministers of Communion, Lector, Music, Sacristan, and Usher/Greeter.
